Originally from Detroit, Will Flannigan graduated from George Washington University and spent several years living and working in Taiwan (where he became fluent in Mandarin). He also worked and lived in China, and spent a year backpacking through Tibet, Nepal, and Burma. His love of exploration and discovery foreshadowed his passion for real estate, particularly the thrill of discovering new neighborhoods. After finishing near the top of his law school class and becoming an attorney, Will initially settled in Seattle where he worked in property management and development before eventually relocating to Burbank, California in 2002.
Further exploring is love of real estate, Will flipped about a dozen homes before becoming a realtor. This afforded him a perspective that enables him to better relate to his clients’ real estate transaction experiences. Will is able to provide his clients with a level of expert advice that is genuinely unique, regardless of whether they’re looking for a fixer with hidden potential, an investment property for additional income, or simply want to position a property to get the best price.
Prior to joining Nook, Will was with Coldwell Banker where he consistently ranked in the top 10% of all CB agents internationally. While Will helps clients buy and sell property throughout LA County, his intimate knowledge of the unique neighborhoods that make up the cities of Burbank, Glendale, Los Feliz, Beachwood Canyon, Pasadena, Altadena, La Canada and Beverly Hills allow him to help his clients confidently evaluate all their options.
Will’s legal training and his experience as a skilled negotiator (he’s a Certified Negotiation Expert & Pricing Strategy Advisor), has equipped him with the ability to find creative ways to resolve issues for his clients. Whether you're thinking about selling a cherished home full of memories, navigating the purchase of your first house, or just want to chat about your options, Will would love to help. The purchase or sale of a home can be a stressful experience, but with his guidance, understanding and commitment to caring for your best interests as he would a friend’s, it doesn't need to be.
More about Will in his own words:
Q: Where do you live now and why do you love it?
A: I live in a great Mid-Century Modern home in the Burbank Rancho Equestrian area with my amazing wife and daughter, two Golden Retrievers, two lazy cats, and a pair of Arabian horses in the backyard stalls. We enjoy being able to hike the nearby hills, walk the dogs in our favorite neighborhoods, or ride horses in Griffith Park, which we see every time we open the front door.
I love the Burbank Rancho neighborhood where horses walk past my front door every day – it’s truly unique to be in a community so close to the city but with the feeling of living in a more rural area. One Thanksgiving, we had an “orphan” celebration where we had our family, daughter’s classmates, old friends, and new clients, all come together to share the meal with us. That nurturing feeling, and that energy, is what I try to help my clients discover when they look for their special home. I love mature trees, and when our neighborhood’s beautiful California Sycamore trees became infected with the Shot Hole Borer beetle, I created the website SaveYourTreesNow.com to help educate my neighbors about this pest and how best to control it.
Q: What are you most passionate about in real estate?
A: I love the discovery of new neighborhoods and hidden gems. The stories behind each home remind me that a home isn’t just a place to invest money, it’s a place to create a lifestyle that will result in wonderful memories. I’m also passionate about how my clients should be taken care of – whether I’m helping a buyer find and acquire their first home, or a seller downsize after calling a place home for decades, I treat each transaction with the same level of respect and care.
Q: What is your most favorite residential architectural style and why?
A: I’m drawn to beautiful, timeless properties, especially Mid-Century Modern homes, as well as Craftsman bungalows and Spanish stucco. In my opinion, these homes represent some of the best housing stock in Southern California. Finding one that has been thoughtfully restored is really exciting, but equally thrilling is happening upon a neglected home that has the potential to regain its character with a tasteful upgrade.
Q: What excited you most about joining Nook?
A: The Nook brand so closely aligns with my own real estate vision that it was an easy decision. I particularly like that the team at Nook treats me the way I treat my clients. They are very responsive to my requests which means I’m able to deliver a more personalized level of service to my clients. I also really love the connection with Curbed.com. I think it’s a tremendous benefit because the exposure provided through Curbed generates a lot of traffic (both online and at open houses), which leads to more offers more quickly, and ultimately better deals for my sellers.
