If you like great music, interactive art, and delicious food, then get thee to Bonnaroo this summer. The annual festival takes place on June 13-16 this year and offers everything you could want in a summer weekend of fun.
One of the biggest reasons people head out to Bonnaroo each year is the killer lineup of live music it consistently offers, and this year is no exception. The festival is hosting musical giants like Phish, Cardi B, and Childish Gambino on its main stage in addition to Post Malone, The Lumineers, and The National, just to name a few. In fact, the event features over 150 musicians and performance artists on its more than 10 stages who play music all day and all night—you can sleep when you go home.
But music isn’t the only thing this festival offers in high supply. There are also a ton of unique activities that span from interactive art to sex therapy to yoga. For instance, Yoga-Roo hosts all-levels yoga sessions throughout the festival, including Adaptive Yoga for festival-goers with disabilities. You can also head to The Oasis at Bacardi Bay, which offers a real-sand beach, island boats, volleyball, and, of course, all of the Bacardi cocktails you could want.
If you’re looking for a more sober experience, Bonnaroo has you covered on that too. You can head to Soberoo and mingle with fellow sober festival-goers, participating in daily meetings and getting to know passionate music lovers who subscribe to a sober lifestyle.
In addition to seemingly endless activities, the festival has a distinctly socially conscious slant, providing opportunities to register to vote and sustainability programming, like Planet Roo. At Planet Roo, you can engage with a variety of nonprofit organizations focused on sustainability while participating in gardening, art, and songwriting workshops. You can also head to the Bonnaroo Learning Garden which offers hands-on training from farmers and volunteers who will teach you how to grow your own food.
Speaking of food, with all of this activity you’ll definitely need some delicious grub to fuel you through it, and the festival has plenty of that to go around. Whether you’re a committed vegan or you’re on a meat-only diet, your dietary needs will definitely be met, with offerings like spinach mozzarella dumplings, grass-fed burgers, fried avocado tacos, and unforgettable doughnuts. There’s even a Bacon Land, which serves up quality bacon from around the country in Bacon Flights that allow you to taste a bunch of different kinds of bacon-y goodness at once.
In short, with its amazing music, creative interactive activities, and boundless cuisine, this is definitely not an event you want to miss. Tickets start at $349 for general admission and can cost up to $3,275, depending on just how VIP you want to get.
