Country Club Estates is a Palm Springs community that showcases some of the most beautiful examples of mid-century modern design in the country. The low-density community sits on 4.8 acres of land and houses 30 luxury condos designed by famed architect A. Quincy Jones in 1965.
The condos are unassuming at first glance, featuring sleek rectangular silhouettes with simple white facades comprised of stacked masonry blocks, but inside, the homes open up into stunning, light-filled spaces that are equally elegant and expansive. Most of the structures remain remarkably true to their original design, featuring open floor plans and floor-to-ceiling glass windows that surround outdoor atriums to maximize the desert light and create an indoor-outdoor living experience -- a signature of Jones’ architectural style.
The homes also boast luxury features like 10-foot ceilings, which contribute to the structures’ expansive feel, private patios that open up into vast green space, and skylights, further enhancing the abundant natural light the homes were designed to hold. Outside, the 30 gorgeous homes sit near a centrally located pool and spa, giving the community a resort-like feel, while the San Jacinto mountains to the west provide residents with spectacular mountainous views.
The community also boasts a stellar location off of E. La Verne Way near S. Camino Real, which is situated near Twin Palms, another popular mid-century neighborhood featuring 90 homes designed by modernist architect William Krisel. As you can imagine, the residences in Country Club Estates, with their historic architecture and prime locale, rarely go up for sale, but when they do, they’re typically priced around $500K.
If you’d like to get a closer look at some of these iconic homes, then you can take advantage of a tour hosted by Modernism Week on February 15th. The one-hour walking tour will take you throughout the community, allowing you to check out many of the homes' interiors and chat with long-time residents about the area’s history. You’ll also get to see a beautiful vintage car display along the route. You can find out more information and purchase tickets for the tour here.
