Find Your Mediterranean Oasis Within Irvine’s Master Plan

Written by Cindy Marie Jenkins on Thursday, February 23rd, 2017 at 11:17am.

The city of Irvine began when a Scottish Irish immigrant started ranching and farming for the Gold Rush miners. In 1894, his son expanded the farmland, and more food production meant more community needs, like schools and churches and public services. The original master plan, led by UCI architect William Pereira, constructed a number of townships, or villages, at the same time, keeping all community amenities a short distance away. Very quickly, an affinity for the hybrid Spanish Mediterranean style rose in Irvine, a nod to its rich Spanish history and ideal for the warm California climate.

Among this beautiful housing style, nestled in Northwood Pointe, visitors are struck by the prestigious gated RoseGate community, surrounded on all sides by spacious parks, woodsy trails, hiking paths, shops like Orchard Hills Village and Irvine Spectrum, and within walking distance of the most award winning schools per capita in Orange County. Irvine’s signature eucalyptus trees frame many properties, an homage back to the neighborhood's first farms.

One of the homes for sale, 67 New Dawn, was recently upgraded and expanded to almost 5,100 square feet of functional space. The sound-proof home theatre and reconfigured kitchen allows for a grand buffet or gourmet home-made dinners. A flexible floor plan retains the feel of its architectural roots, flowing freely from kitchen and family room to a grand cathedral ceiling in the living room. Residents and their friends can enjoy three distinct entertaining areas, two outdoor entertaining areas, a custom pool and covered loggia with new stainless steel grill.

Just like the ranchers and the farmers who initially lived in the Irvine neighborhoods, however, Northwood is ideal for multi-family living. The Master Plan ensures that all ages enjoy community amenities within the gates as well as the very walkable green areas close by, including the acclaimed Mountain Trail to the Sea. At RoseGate specifically, these include close proximity to soccer fields, 4 tennis courts, a heated "Olympic" swimming pool, sand volleyball, a full-court basketball and a Tai Chi pavilion. You can really find all the qualities you need for family life right next to nature reservations and hiking or biking trails with phenomenal views.
