All Creatures Great and Small Need Some Love on National Love Your Pet Day

Written by Cindy Marie Jenkins on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 at 11:15am.

Welcome to #TastemakerTuesday, where we’ll feature the visionaries in our favorite nooks who are dedicated to building a better community through their talents.

Today is National Love Your Pet Day! After a week of Valentine’s Day shenanigans, the furry loved one in your life needs their very own time with you. It may seem silly to have a special time for our pets, who we just adore and shower with affection, but there’s absolutely no harm in giving them one day dedicated to your companionship

In fact, pets have been proven to be good for overall health. They get you moving, help your heart and ease your stress level, according to Consumer Reports. Out of the many suggestions for going the extra mile to appreciate your pet on this day, and one of the best ones is to take them for a special grooming and treat. So we combed our Nook Neighborhoods for those pet boutiques who really care and have a special meaning behind their products.

Los Angeles: Tailwaggers has been Hollywood’s go-to place for an all natural, carefully curated selection of food and grooming salon. Their bathers and groomers are all IPC certified, with medicated shampoo and conditioner available as well. Through the Waggy Awards and Tailwaggers Foundation, life-saving treatments are given to pets who need them.

Orange County: Dogma in Newport Beach has all the quality dog food, a special bakery, nutritional supplements and living needs that a well-loved pet adores. Their employees always go above and beyond to ensure that any health questions are answered and the proper product is paired with your family.

Santa Barbara: George, named after the owners’ rescue pup, with shops here as well as San Francisco and Marin County, is perfect for the Nook audience. When they welcomed George into their home, the couple were not happy with how every dog bed and available accessory clashed with their furnishings. So like any respectable experts in style, they designed their own.

San Diego: Noah’s Natural Pet Market is a self-grooming and bathing facility that specializes in non-toxic, holistic products. It’s a one-stop shop where you can treat your pet to personalized attention in the bath, and then spoil them with a stylish collar, leash and chew toy.

The Bay Area: Green Pawz believes in environmentally friendly products st strongly that they manufacture their own shampoo and conditioner. Founder and Owner Julianne Walsh were looking for a way to combine her love of natural living and pets when she made the career change into a pet boutique, based on the ideal of never compromising our earth for any part of our lives. Now with two locations, your beloved pet can enjoy a spa day with some of her many grooming services.

Miami: Doggie Bag Cafe and Pet Boutique were founded by Chef Laly and Chef Nicole after they adopted an adorable British bulldog with numerous allergies to processed food. Once they started cooking the food for their dear Miss Zoey, her allergies were under control and the business grew from there. Nothing says “I love you” to your pet like a photo pillow of their beautiful canines selves.
